Award for Planning Excellence                Blue Mountain/Birch Cove Lakes Assessment Study

The Canadian Institute of Planners awarded EDM the 2007 CIP Award for Planning Excellence in Recreation Planning for the Blue Mountain/Birch Cove Lakes Assessment Study.

The study was submitted in April of 2006 for the N.S. Department of Transportation and Public Works Focus Report on the Proposed Highway 113 Project.

EDM's assessment study examined the ideal configuration for establishment of a regional park in the Blue Mountain/Birch Cove Lakes area of HRM.

The Study was completed for the Halifax Regional Municipality and the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works, in cooperation with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources.

Results of the study were incorporated into HRM's Regional Plan, in addition to submission as Appendix B in NSTPW's Focus Report.
