Moncton Brownfield

From 1993 to 2000 EDM guided Canada Lands through the consultation and redevelopment of the 300-acre Moncton CN Shops property, the largest brownfield site in Atlantic Canada.

EDM conducted component studies of the Environmental Impact Assessment including future use, infrastructure and stormwater management and public consultation. The firm prepared land use scenarios and development strategies, with pro forma’s, and final concept design.

EDM's design included a business park, housing, eight baseball fields and six soccer fields over landfill material that required a stormwater management plan and site grading to meet environmental containment requirements.

Canada Lands won the Urban Land Institute’s best Overall Project Award, the Sustainability in Community Building Award, and its Brownie Award based on EDM's design.
