![]() Concept Engineering(Civil and Environmental) At EDM, we prepare the conceptual design for both the civil and environmental engineering infrastructure at the same time as we prepare our Plans. Early integration of engineering design compels us to fully explore the cost and engineering/construction implications of our ideas, long before the plan is complete. The result is innovative plans that are also constructible. Conceptual engineering is not the same as design engineering. Conceptual engineering is the process of defining and budgeting the engineering projects that are necessary to implement the plan. For example, concept engineering for sewage treatment would involve, establishing the need for treatment, determining the right location for treatment, identifying the treatment performance criteria, defining the appropriate means of discharge including water reuse, and comparing budget cost estimates for different options. Design engineering, in contrast, is the subsequent engineering to refine the design for construction. Our services include concept engineering for: Environmental Protection Strategies Stormwater Management Plans Sewer and Water Servicing StrategiesSite Design for Contaminated Sites Road, Street, and Interchange Horizontal and Vertical Design Mass Earth DesignProject Coordination, Scheduling, and Budgeting. The integration of engineering with planning has resulted in several unique engineering design solutions, which we also offer to our clients, including: Watercourse and Pond Design Wetland Restoration and Constructed Wetland Design Solar Aquatics and On-site Sewage Treatment Site Grading Parks and Habitat Plans Street, Sidewalk, and urban lifestyle landscapes |
